Who are the go-to friends that you can turn to that will rejoice when you are happy or encourage you when you are down? Well these are my two: Danyelle and Erwine. I remember praying that I find a few peers that I could connect with on a deeper level other than just "happy hour friends," and honestly, when the people I thought were besties fell off, I was sad at first, but now I could not be more thankful.

There are various reality shows that feature black women arguing and being violent and though I am sure some of that is acting for ratings (well at least I hope it is!), I think it is important to show that black women can support one another without malicious intent and that a lot of us genuinely want our sisters to succeed.

Being a part of a sisterhood, whether black, brown, white, yellow or any color in between is wonderful thing, but I am thankful that I have two women filled with rich melanin that can relate to my struggles and the various challenges I face not only because of gender but because of my skin tone as well. These ladies push me to be the very best version of myself, and for that I am thankful.
